The communal temple was built in 868, used to worship the Thanh Hoang (City God) of A La De Nuong Village. In 1877 (under the reign of Tu Duc King), the temple was totally renovated as a new building. In 2012, the temple was restored. The horizontal lacquered board “Duc hop vo cuong” (which means Virtue which wins people’s hearts will exist forever).

Thanh Hoang was born on August 10 of the year At Suu (845). He had a warm heart, was willing to do everything for the people. He built Van Bao camp (today called Van Phuc village) and told people to do right things, not to do wrong things, and to live in harmony “Men work on farms – Women weave silk”. His moral code is “When people are happy, the country shall be peaceful” and “when the country is rich, its people shall live a prosperous life”.

Thanh Hoang died on December 25 “His life was for people, his death was for country”. He was given the title “Thuong dang than” and his god title was “Duong canh Thanh Hoang – Quoc Vuong thien tu – Nga hoang dai vuong”. When the country encountered foreign invasions, the Ly, Tran, Le dynasties came the Temple to ask him for support. Thanh Hoang was awarded 11 titles, recognizing Thanh Hoang of the Van Phuc village as the person who “protected the country – helped the people”.

The Van Phuc village communal temple, the thousand – year – old cultural work has attached closely with the people. Particularly, on the morning of August 17, 1945, the red flag with a gold star at the communal temple witnessed the magnificent historic event: power was reclaimed by the people of Van Phuc Village.
