HISTORY OF PHUONG CUI TEMPLE
The founder of the silk weaving is Ms. A La – her title is De Nuong.
Her god title is: Quoc Vuong Thien Tu, Nga Hoang Dai Vuong.
She was born on August 10 of the year At Ty at Tu Long commune, Tuyen Quang province. Her father is Hung Thuy, descendant of Hung King, her mother is Pham Khuong. After being awarded the title ‘Nga Hoang De nhi cung phi (Nga Hoang Second Lady)’ in Dai La citadel, she traveled to Van Bao hamlet, seeing beautiful sceneries, hardworking people, beautiful customs, worthy traditions, she decided to stay here until the end of her life.
She used humanity to connect people and create solidarity, built beautiful customs based on solidarity, happiness and peace. She taught people in the region how to read and write, how to raise silkworms and weave silk, making the land more and more prosperous.
Due to her great merit, after her death, she was honored as the City God to worship her forever and the people built a temple to worship her at the place where she passed away.
One of the assistants of the City God in teaching the people of Van Bao village how to raise silkworms and weave silk was a person in La Thanh citadel (unknown identity) who was invited by the City God to teach the people the profession at campus of Phuong Cui Temple today.
After the City God returned to the Heaven on December 25 of the previous year, on the 9th of January of the following year she also asked permission to return for a few days. 2-3 years later, she did not return to the temple, the people believed that she also returned to the Heaven like the City God.
To remember her merit, the people set up a temple to worship her right at the temple of phuong cui (weaving group) so the temple was called the Phuong Cui Temple (the temple to worship the Founder of the Profession).
